Toothache as a result of tooth decay

Tooth decay that has been left unaddressed and spread to the dental pulp causes severe pain as well as infection or dental abscesses. Toothache which occurs as a result of tooth decay can almost always be successfully treated by extracting the tooth or carrying out a root canal. A root canal procedure helps eliminate the infection and protects the tooth from future microbial invasion, but unfortunately if this is not possible then the tooth will have to be removed. It is important that you visit our dentist immediately as these infections can be treated with antibiotics, and if this does not solve the issue then you may require a tooth extraction or root canal therapy of the infected tooth.
